Chandler traces its history back to the namesake veterinarian surgeon Dr. Alexander Chandler who established the town as Chandler Ranch around the turn of the 20th Century. A suburb of Phoenix located south of the city of Mesa, Chandler was home to the very first golf resort in Arizona in 1913. Chandler's population has swelled to nearly a quarter million people. It has a pleasant desert climate that is ideal for snowbirds. Average winter temperatures are in the high 60s. Chandler is a reasonably affluent city with median household income of over $70,000 annually. Originally an agricultural community centered around cotton farming, Chandler is now a hub for high tech manufacturing.
